There’s nothing quite like combining two of your favorite things. And this month, I stumbled upon one such combo: that of books and candles.
Wick and Fable sells a variety of bookish candles, literary teas and bath+body products. Each candle comes as a wax tart, a 4 ounce jar candle or an 8 ounce jar candle. You can also bundle them together for a discount or pick a 2 or 4 piece sampler. And trust me, the samplers come in handy because it is SO hard to choose which candles to get!
You can shop by scent or by fandom, and the stories that they represent… Well, it’s basically all my favorites: COTAR, Throne of Glass, Game of Thrones, LOTR, Outlander, Gilmore Girls, and many more! Plus each fandom has several different candles for your favorite characters, locations, or themes.
To start off my new obsession, I went with the Pick 4 Samplers Bundle and chose a few favorites. Shipping does take a little while – expect your candles in a few weeks. But once they get here, I promise you will enjoy them. The labels are gorgeous, all the wax contains glitter, and the scent will definitely fill up a room. NOTE: The candles do smell a little different – and better in my opinion – once you actually burn them. So don’t judge from the first scent!
Now let’s take a look at the four specific literary candles I ordered…
Based on: The heroine of Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Maas really writes female characters like no other, and Feyre’s transition (in more ways than one) is the best I’ve seen in years.
“I was not a pet, not a doll, not an animal. I was a survivor, and I was strong. I would not be weak, or helpless again. I would not, could not be broken. Tamed.”
― A Court of Mist and Fury
Smells like: Ocean, Sea Grass, Roses, Jasmine, Citrus
Makes you feel: Like you’re walking through a secret garden with flowers dripping down around you. Definitely captures the magical Fae-ness and the Spring Court.
Pair with: A light Sauvignon Blanc and stunning sunset
This was my least favorite of the four, but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t wonderful. To me, this candle very much represented who Feyre was at the beginning of the series: softer, a little naive, unsure of herself. And the Feyre that I love really begins to grow in book two. However, the subtlety of this candle is really gorgeous, and while it’s mostly floral, there are slight notes of Rhysand, hinting at the growth to come.
(P.S. I can’t believe I am getting this intense, analytical and literary about a candle… It’s AWESOME!)
Based on: Everyone’s favorite love interest and High Lord in Sarah J. Maas’ series A Court of Thorns and Roses. He’s witty, he’s naughty, he’s compassionate and he’s great in bed.
“To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys.” He clinked his glass against mine. “To the stars who listen— and the dreams that are answered.”
― A Court of Mist and Fury
Smells like: Jasmine, Citrus, Ocean Breeze, Sea Shore, Violet – it’s the perfect balance of sweet, salty and sensual
Makes you feel: Sexy. Swoon-ing. Like there’s an incredibly hot man about to walk through your door at any minute. If only…
Pair with: A candlelit bubble bath and dark chocolate
I am amazed of how well this fits with the personality and described smell of Rhysand himself. I can literally imagine myself standing next to him on a Night Court balcony overlooking the ocean. This candle is very strong – which doesn’t bother me – but beware if you are hyper-sensitive to smell.
Based on: Aelin Ashyrver Galathynius from Sarah J. Maas’ Throne of Glass series – our spunky and conniving assassin, fire-wielder and lost queen.
“She was fire, and light, and ash, and embers. She was Aelin Fireheart, and she bowed for no one and nothing, save the crown that was hers by blood and survival and triumph.”
― Queen of Shadows
Smells like: Crackling Amber, Jasmine, Clove and Lemon – this fire literally smells like someone threw a bundle of flowers into a burning fire
Makes you feel: Like you’re sitting around a campfire, preparing to either storm off to battle or crawl into bed with your sexy Fae counterpart
Pair with: A big, bold and smoky red wine under the stars
This was my favorite of the samples I received. It perfectly captures the essence of the character, made my entire apartment feel warm, and I even felt like I got a little bit of Aelin’s strength seeping through my pores. Definitely ordering a large one of these!
Based on: One of four Hogwarts houses, Ravenclaws are known for their sharp wit, creativity and ravenous reading.
“Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you’ve a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind.”
—Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Smells like: Books, Hogwarts Library, Cuppa Tea
Makes you feel: Like you should be seated in a library, surrounded by books and magic
Pair with: A cup of tea, a sunny day and a good book
As a fellow Ravenclaw, this candle really spoke to my soul. I wish it was a little bit stronger, but that also made this the perfect daytime candle. I typically prefer my candles at night, but curling up first thing in the morning with this candle burning instantly transported me to the Ravenclaw common room.
So there you have it! My new obsession, and I can’t wait for my next box of samplers! I think I will go with Rowan, Rivendell, Most Ardently, and Poisoner next.

Do you feel the 4pz candles still have scent power.
